In New South Wales, unrestricted licence holders who accumulate 13 or more demerit points within a three-year period face suspension. However, they may elect to serve a 12-month Good Behaviour Licence instead of the suspension. During this period, accruing two or more demerit points results in a suspension that is double the original period.

Consequences of Breaching Good Behaviour Licence Conditions

If you breach your GBL by accumulating two or more demerit points during the 12-month period, Transport for NSW will impose a suspension for double the original duration. For example:

13 to 15 demerit points: Original suspension of 3 months; suspension after breach is 6 months.
16 to 19 demerit points: Original suspension of 4 months; suspension after breach is 8 months.
20 or more demerit points: Original suspension of 5 months; suspension after breach is 10 months.

It's important to note that there is no direct right of appeal against a suspension resulting from breaching a GBL.
